Questions & Answers
How much does an Outdoor Kitchen cost?
The cost of building a Outdoor Kitchen varies depending on multiple factors,
We custom build the cabinetry so you get the Outdoor Kitchen built to your requirements and specifications
The basic start point for a custom built Outdoor Kitchen would be around $12,000 + GST
Consider the build as an investment in both your social time with family and friends,
and the overall value of your property.
- The overall build size and the design layout of the cabinetry, where its going to be placed and whether its wall mounted or a freestanding island type.
- The overall style and types of door and drawer front panels you are wanting to use, we offer the standard ACM panel (aluminium composite material) in basic colours through to powder coat finishes that match existing joinery or we can utilise the timber panelings of your exterior cladding and in some cases use the porcelain stone that matches the bench top. Talk to us if you have a specific design in mind, we would love to help.
- Your choice of outdoor appliances, this is based on your budget and requirements, as the selection of BBQs, fridge units through to the type of sink and mixer is vast.
- The bench top surfaces as there are plenty of options, but we recommend porcelain stone for your outdoor kitchen project, its UV stable, hard wearing, stain resist and low maintenance. There is also plenty of different colour and grain options available from your base solid colours through to the full marble look that vary up in price.
- The materials we use needs to endure the elements, so unlike your interior kitchen they need to be able to handle the New Zealand’s 4 seasons from the suns harsh UV through to rain and moisture.
- The site location and the access to specific utilities required for the installation eg gas, power and water. We can assist with organising the necessary trades for the installation or work in with yours.

What outdoor appliances can I use in my Outdoor Kitchen build?
The selection of outdoor kitchen appliances available in New Zealand nowadays is huge, with so
many different brands, styles and colour finishes right through to the types of cooking methods
you require, but ideally you want to chose quality components that are built to last. There is no
point spending good money on the outdoor kitchen build to have your BBQ or appliances only
lasting a few years. Talk to us about recommendations.

What do I need to consider when deciding on a location for my Outdoor Kitchen?
We need a good foundation or a solid rear mount wall when installing the outdoor kitchen units in place, the custom built outdoor kitchen units become a permanent fixture so they need to be secured to framework or decking thats relatively new.
Other things to consider are the fire risks, as the BBQ or cookers need to be clear of timber cladding and combustible surfaces, a non combustible upstand can resolve most of these issues, e.g., using the porcelain stone which is the same as your bench top.
Also consider the sun upon dark coloured units such as black cabinetry and benches, it can result in the surfaces getting warm.
Fridge units with glass doors must be kept out of the direct sunlight as it can make operating
ineffectively due to the heat on the glass.

Planning your Outdoor Kitchen?
The best way to plan the outdoor kitchen layout is to break it into sections and then decide what you want from each area,
The cooking space - where you are wanting to do the main cooking that allows you enough room to bbq safely
The bench space - enough room for food preparation or serving up of food and platters.
And if required the cleaning or wash up space - the sink and tap mixer, these can be a small rinse up sink to the full wash down basin with both hot and cold running water.
Then there are the many extras that complement your outdoor kitchen - the outdoor fridge, easy access cupboard space and drawer units, rubbish bins and oil and spice racks.
And don’t forget the outdoor fireplace, the pizza oven, charcoal grills or your smokers - the
options are endless….
The style and look is also important, we will endeavour to work in with you to meet your personal
style, colours and requirements.
